A JOINT effort between junior and infant pupils and an artist-in-residence has seen the installation of four sculpted benches.
The benches have been put in place on the path between Abbey Infant and Abbey Junior Schools in Darlington.
They were made by Lee Brewster after children from both schools produced the designs. The seats are shaped like open books and depict a page of prose and an illustration page.
Seat designs depict four books, Jack and the Beanstalk, the Iron Man, the BFG and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. The majority of funding came from Tees Valley Tec.
Headteachers Elaine McCue, at the infants, and George Ford, at the juniors, were delighted with the finished products and weather permitting, will be encouraging the youngsters to use them
