FEARS for the safety of playing children have prompted councillors to take action to curb traffic dangers.
Hartlepool Borough Council's North Neighbourhood Forum has agreed to spend more than £900 to install a speed hump and roadside railings in Morison Gardens, on the town's Headland.
Residents were concerned about the risk of children on bikes and skateboards shooting out from a sloping pavement into the path of vehicles leaving a nearby garage site.
The issue was taken to the Forum by St Hilda's ward councillor Fred Dickson, and at a recent meeting, other members agreed action should be taken.
Councillor Dickson said: "Residents were particularly concerned about the situation and I would like to thank the forum for its support in helping to tackle this problem.
