RICHMOND rider Miss Isobel Reynolds and her mount Murphy returned from the Riding for the Disabled Association national final in Warwickshire with a silver rosette in the working pony class.
Her success came after the Unicorn Centre at Hemlington received a £500 donation in the nick of time from breadmaker Warburtons to buy a new saddle and tack for Murphy.
Miss Reynolds, who suffers from cerebral palsy, also received help from readers of the D&S Times after it was revealed that she was struggling to meet the costs of competing at Warwick.
She earned a place in the final after winning a qualifier at the Unicorn Centre's summer show and repeating her success in the regional round.
North Eastern Tyre and Exhaust in Middlesbrough offered to provide transport for Miss Reynolds and her horse, while several other companies and individuals made cash donations. In all, more than £1,000 was pledged.
Miss Reynolds, 34, has also completed a NVQ in horse care with help from the Unicorn Centre.
