A FREE park-and-ride service will operate from County Hall car park, Durham, into the city centre, on the five Saturdays before Christmas.
Bus operator Arriva has teamed up with Durham city and county councils, and traders' group Durham City Forum, to ease parking problems and traffic congestion during the pre-Christmas rush.
City centre workers are invited to take advantage of regular shuttle bus runs from County Hall car park.
The service will start at 6.45am on five Saturdays, from November 25.
It will be free up to 9am, with the normal £1 charge applying after that.
Extra buses will be laid on at peak times to ensure a fast service. Any queries about the service can be made via the forum's city centre manager, Barry Turnbull, on 0191-301 8860.
