TWO teenagers who met at a swimming baths in 1935 would never have guessed that 60 years later they would be celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary.
Nancy Withers, 81, met her husband, Clarence, at a swimming baths in Bishop Auckland when she was 16 years old.
Mr Withers, 84, worked as a butcher, and eventually ran two of his own shops while Nancy ran a hairdressing salon in Durham.
The couple moved to Low Etherley 20 years ago, but despite living all their lives in Wear Valley, the couple have seen some far-flung places in the world.
A few years ago Mr and Mrs Withers visited the Caribbean, and they have also been to Bangkok, Bali, Jakarta, Australia and New Zealand.
They marked their diamond anniversary with a family gathering of their three children, 12 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren
