A NEW colour edition of an illustrated history of 800 years of bells and bellringers at St Cuthbert's church, Darlington, is now on sale, in aid of church funds. Copies, costing £5, are available in the church.
St Cuthbert's has one of the strongest bands of ringers in the area but is due to lose members to job moves and university places in the coming year so would welcome anyone interested in learning to ring.
Ringing is a challenging hobby "and we have lots of fun", says tower captain, Mr David Roberts. Anyone who would like to try ringing can contact him on 01325 284803.
Practices are held on Monday evenings and the bells are rung for morning and evening services on Sundays.
