A SPONSORED Christmas tree is to help raise money for elderly people.
The Durham and Wearside committee of Help the Aged is to put up a Christmas tree in the grounds of Darlington Memorial Hospital, and will be called a Tree of Light.
It will be sponsored by local businesses, and all funds raised will be donated to the hospital to help elderly people who are hospitalised over Christmas have a more enjoyable time.
The tree lights are set to be switched on at 7pm on Friday, December 8
