PLANS to carry out further improvements to a town centre car park in Hartlepool have been revealed by council chiefs.
They intend to cover the walls of the underground car park, next to the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, in a reflective white paint, to try to make it more inviting to motorists.
Bollards in the car park will also be painted.
These plans will complement recently-completed work, which included coating ceilings and columns in the same reflective paint, installing lights and improving bay markings. It is hoped to have the work finished before Christmas.
Paul Mitchinson, highways maintenance team leader, said: "We are very pleased with the work that has already been carried out, but we feel that the improvements we are now proposing will make the underground car park an even safer place to leave your car.
"There is already a more welcoming and relaxed feel to the underground.
"We want to ensure that people parking their cars in the town centre feel safe and enjoy using our facilities."
