THE Mayor of Darlington is fully prepared for her gripping act in next week's town festival after spending a day juggling.
Councillor Dot Long stepped into the shoes of a circus performer yesterday for her part in the Orange Darlington Festival Lantern Parade, which takes place next Friday.
She visited the Orange Communications Centre to try out a set of balls to try a spot of juggling.
"I can't juggle, but I am willing to have a go for a good cause," she said.
"The lantern parade is a big event for Darlington, and this year's will be the best ever."
The parade, coinciding with BBC's Children in Need Appeal, will include street performers of all kinds, entertaining as they make their way through the town.
Orange candles can be bought for £1 to be placed under the canopy of the indoor market.
