MANX Police are learning how to reduce assaults on officers from the expertise of their Teesside counterparts.
PC Mick Couhig of Cleveland Police is travelling to the island to brief Manx Force safety trainers on the use of CS spray.
Since training was introduced in 1996, incidents of attacks on Cleveland Police officers have fallen from 250 in 1992 to 104 in 1999.
PC Couhig said: "The island has seen the positive effects of the use of CS spray in the UK mainland."
