CONSULTATION is under way on a new blueprint for the future of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
A local plan, which acts as a template for decisions on development, has governed the area since 1996.
The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority has begun a review of its policies, and is hoping for input from people who live and work in the region.
Strategic planning officer, Nicola Drummond, said: "This is the community's chance to influence the future patterns of building and land use in the national park.
"It is a chance to speak up for policies that would support low-cost housing, or extend policies to allow agriculture-related workers to live in the open countryside, near to where they work.
"It is a chance to help shape policies which support farm diversification and employment opportunities, for the benefit of the people of the Dales.''
A copy of the consultation booklet will be available at National Park offices and visitor centres.
Alternatively, copies can be obtained by telephoning Nicola Drummond on (01969) 650456
