A NEW beer has been produced in honour of the continuing work to restore HMS Trincomalee in the region.
Camerons Brewery, in Hartlepool, has launched Famous Frigate to celebrate work on HMS Trincomalee, which has been restored at the Historic Quay over the past ten years.
Head brewer Martin Dutoy said: "Tremendous restoration work has been carried out on HMS Trincomalee, and we wanted to brew a beer in honour of this fine vessel and the team who have worked on her."
The five per cent strength beer is described as having a full, roasted flavour, and will be available in 150 pubs across the country this month.
Trincomalee Trust general manager Bryn Hughes accepted a firkin of the beer on behalf of his team. He said: "We have been overwhelmed by the support of local people."
