A SCHOOLBOY from the region has been voted one of the top GCSE students in the country.
Dominic Morgan, 16, who attends High Tunstall Comprehensive School, in Hartlepool, achieved the highest social sciences GCSE during the summer.
Dominic was one of 13 finalists in the GSCE Student of the Year competition, which looks at all the exam results in the country.
Three million GCSE entrants were set examinations this year by the Assessments and Qualifications Alliance and all were considered as part of the competition.
Richard Tydeman, from Essex, and Benjamin Collie, from West Sussex, were voted overall top GSCE students of the year, with ten A* grades each.
Although Dominic missed out on the main prize of £100, he received a silver medal and High Tunstall Comprehensive received a diploma to mark his achievement
