TWO years after his death, the family and friends of a young cancer victim are showing he is not forgotten by helping to fund the fight against the killer desease.
Friends of football fan John Barras supported his mother, Susie, in her efforts to raise her latest £2,300 contribution to the North-East Cancer Research Campaign.
Most of the money came from a charity night at Spennymoor Town Hall.
John's friends, Darren Williams and Richard Bulmer, conquered the Three Peaks Challenge to raise £300, while staff and customers at Woolworth's Bishop Auckland store contributed £275.
Susie, from Craddock Street, Spennymoor, is cheered by the devotion of John's friends. Since he died in November 1998 she has collected £7,540 to help fight cancer.
She said: "It cheers me up to think that John had so many good friends who have not forgotten him. Everybody has been tremendous and I can't thank them enough."
