A 57-YEAR-OLD man was cleared yesterday of taking money from a prostitute who was living in his home.

Colin Craig had been accused of taking money from the teenage girl during a three-week period when she stayed in his house after she left home.

But yesterday, a jury at Teesside Crown Court acquitted Mr Craig of the charge of living off prostitution, which he had denied.

The 17-year-old girl claimed when she had stayed at Mr Craig's home, in Petch Close, Middlesbrough, she had handed over £20 on a couple of occasions.

But Mr Craig denied receiving anything from the girl, who was using heroin at the time, in October and November last year. He claimed that he simply offered her somewhere to stay, and received nothing in return.

He denied taking advantage of the girl, although he agreed he did have sex with her.
