POLICE are hunting for two men who punched an elderly woman in the face to steal £6.
The attack happened on Tuesday night, as 85-year-old Amelia Beattie was returning from a trip to Redcar.
She got off a bus in Norton High Street, Stockton, at about 4.30pm and was about to go through a cut in Leven Road when she was pounced on by the men.
One of them punched her in the face while the other grappled with her handbag.
They fled with just £6, leaving the woman suffering from extreme shock, severe bruising, cuts to her mouth and a dislocated shoulder.
She was taken to North Tees General Hospital, where she was still being detained last night.
Her attackers are described as in their late teens to early 20s, and about 5ft 6in.
Anyone who saw the incident is asked to contact PC Dave Ibbinson, at Stockton, on (01642) 302236.
