Middlesbrough South entertained Thirsk at Eston Labour Club and gained a 5-2 win. The home side took a early lead when, Paul Gaffney (25.10) beat Neil Flynn (22.51) 3-2, Peter Searle (20.04) beat Mick Garthwaite 3-0 and man of the match Kenny Dobson (30.06) beat Tony Billett (20.50) 3-0.
The visitors fought back through Glyn Neads (29.670 who beat Mark Eccles (23.03) 3-1 and Alan Galley (26.04) beat Pat Burgess (25.43) 3-2, to make the score 3-2 to the home side.
Paul Skelton (20.15) increased the lead when he beat Rich Corner 3-2 and Glen Durrant (27.32) beat Simon Craven (21.24) 3-0.
Billingam Green defeated Middlesbrough 4-3 at Visions. The home side started well with Jimmy Dunlop (24.24) who beat Joe Smith (21.65) 3-0 and Steve Blackmore beat Mak Chahal 3-1, Paul Winspear beat Kevin Stephens 3-2 to pull one back for the visitors, but then Mal Cairnie (21.86) beat Peter Nugent (22.03) 3-1 and Man of the Match, Gary Stephens (25.76) beat Derek Nicholson (22.68) 3-1 to give the home side a unbeatable lead, Terry Ferguson (21.30) beat Norman Stringer 3-1 and Les Seetree (21.05) beat Colin Hunton 3-1.
Hartlepool were at home to Croft, at the Travellers Rest, the visitors returning home with a 4-3 win.
First blood went to the home side when Mick Hornsey (24.04) beat Andy Kelly (23.09) 3-2.
The visitors fought back to take the next two, Andy Ford (23.09) beat Bob Dawson (22.54) 3-2 and Mark Durham beat Peter Wheeler 3-0. Again the home side came back with Rob Grundy (22.17) who beat Keith Clitheroe 21.20) 3-1 and Ray Hutchinson ( 25.47) beat Charlie Copeland (21.50) 3-0. Harry Alderson (22.43) levelled the match when he beat Jason Steele (21.75) 3-1. So with the score 3-3, everything to play for, and it turned out to be the best match of the night, with Man of the Match Keith Gowland (26.22) beating Ian Dawson (24.83) 3-2.
Ladies Super League
Burn Valley Social Club won 5-2 at home to Billingham Social Club.
Mandy Stephens (11.79) beat Dorothy Pounder (10.69) 3-1 to put the visitors in front, but from then on it was all downhill.
Pat A Smith (12.22) beat Wendy Graham (12.03) 3-0, Sonya Hepple (11.41) overcame Karen Allison (11.40) 3-1.
Lady of the Match Vera Oliphant (18.79) beat Pauline Heal(13.07) 3-0 and Claire Stainsby (16.16) beat Joyce Dunlop (12.32) 3-0. The pairs were shared.
The upset of the week was the M and D Club (Stockton) beating The Royal (Hartlepool) 4-3, the Royal's first defeat of the season.
Barbara Bradley (12.25) beat Jean Atkinson(13.32) 3-2, to put M and D infront, Jean Robinson (12.42) beat Gail Carhart (12.28) 3-0 to level the match.
M and D went back in front when Sandra Reed (10.92) beat Gill Slee(11.04), including a 180, 3-2.
Lady of the match Babs Evans (17.68) beat June McLoughlin (13.33) 3-0, and Julie Sorby (15.03) beat Tina Watson (13.23) 3-1 to make the score 3-2 to the Royal but M and D took both pairs.
Leaders Wings struck form at home to the Sheraton, winning 6-1.
The home side took an early lead with lady of the match Pat J Smith (18.11) beating Kath Ransom (16.65) 3-0, Molly Pywell (14.45) beat Sheila Jarrott (15.75) 3-1 and Vera Page (16.76) beat Rosie Scarth (14.63) 3-2.
Sheraton got their only point when, Karen Jones (15.57) beat Rhonda page (15.81) 3-2.
In the final singles, Jean Hagan (15.82) beat Pauline Crowe (13.76) 3-0, Wings took both pairs.
