ONE of the region's mayors has shown neighbourly spirit by writing to the mayor of the flood-hit borough next door.
Mayor of Scarborough Coun Dorothy Clegg said in a letter to Redcar and Cleveland's mayor, Coun Arthur Dobson: "I want to express my deepest sympathy and regret for the devastation and distress that has been caused by the recent flooding to so many families, businesses and public services in your district.
"I hope that in some way you are able to extend my message of sympathy to your staff and local people. I sincerely hope the damage caused can soon be remedied to give some relief in time for Christmas.
