A RISING film star has come down to earth with a bump.
Greg McLane, 17, was tipped to take the acting world by storm after his performance in Purely Belter alongside Chris Beattie, 16.
The film about two young tearaways' desperate bid to raise enough money for a Newcastle United season ticket has been a box office success. The pair joined Coronation Street's Denise Welch and actor husband Tim Healey at a premier in Newcastle last month.
But for the time being Greg is concentrating on more mundane matters, selling electrical goods in a Comet store in Sunderland.
He said: "It's strange to be back doing this. I had five days off while the film was released to go to premiers and interviews, but I have spent all the money I earned.
"I need money to live, just like anyone else, so I go to the storeroom and do what the manager tells me.
"I haven't got anything in the pipeline at the moment but I'm going down to London at the end of the week to meet casting directors.
"Ideally, I would be playing Martin Kemp's role in EastEnders or the baddie in GoldenEye. I think I would be good at that, but I'm happy at Comet in the meantime.
A Comet spokesman said: "We're sure Greg has a big career ahead of him in films but it's nice to know he's happy at Comet."
