A FIREfighter has broken the record for the biggest fish caught at a North-East reservoir.
Mark Hayes caught a rainbow trout weighing 19lb 6oz at Northumbrian Waters's Derwent reservoir - almost doubling the existing record.
Green watch sub officer Mark, of Westerhope, Newcastle, only started fly fishing again three months ago with his father John, after a 20-year layoff.
His capture beats the previous record held by worm angler Derek Gray, of Hetton-le-Hole, set earlier this season with a 10lb 15oz rainbow.
The fishing season has been extended at Derwent, near Consett, until Thursday, November 30.
