POLICE have appealed for witnesses to an accident in which a car failed to negotiate a bend in the road and collided with a horse trough. The accident happened at the corner of the A1018 and B1287 Seaham Road at Ryhope Village, Sunderland, at 11.40pm on Friday. The 29-year-old driver of the Ford Fiesta, from Sussex, was admitted to Newcastle General Hospital with serious head and chest injuries. His two passengers were admitted to hospital for observation and discharged. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0191-454 7555, ext 66391.
