A DOG watch scheme, aimed at reducing the problem of fouling, is to be extended to all parishes in Richmondshire.
Councillors approved the move after hearing that pilot schemes at Scorton, near Richmond, and Colburn, Catterick Garrison, were successful.
The environment committee agreed that the district council would provide leaflets, waste bags and information, and parish councils would distribute material and promote awareness.
It was also agreed that officers should investigate providing a service for collecting and kennelling strays through a local kennels as a possible alternative to renewing an existing dog warden contract. A report will be made to a future committee meeting.
