A GROUP of youngsters in the North-East is hoping to get into the record books.
Children from primary schools in east Middlesbrough are making an attempt on the world tree planting record - by planting 100 metres of hedgerow and 900 trees - over three days this week.
The Tree Council is coordinating an attempt to plant the most number of trees on three consecutive days.
The Middlesbrough attempt is being staged at the Berwick Hills allotment site, which is being turned into a nature park. The work is being carried out by Middlesbrough Borough Council, with support from the Countryside Agency
