PENSIONER campaigners are warning elderly people to be wary of cheap car insurance deals.
Age Concern Teesside is urging pensioners to ensure they are getting everything they need from their motor insurance.
The calls come as insurers try to offset higher premiums by cutting some benefits to consumers in a bid to stay competitive.
Dave Punshon, chief executive of Age Concern Teesside, said: "For a great many older people their car is an essential means of transport.
"If their car is involved in an accident then it is important for them to be provided with a courtesy car to ensure they remain mobile.
"This is particularly important as local transport services reduce, and more out-of-town shopping centres are introduced.
"Now more than ever before, people need to check the cover provided and not just go for the cheapest quote.
