PEOPLE living in Redcar and Cleveland are being offered a check-up to help prevent them developing back pain problems.
The test is being carried out by staff from South Cleveland Hospital, who will be visiting a working men's club, in a project funded by the Health Action Zone, in Teesside.
They will use a pioneering technique to measure electrical muscular activity, to identify people at risk of back problems.
Health promotion specialist Pam Bruce said: "Seventy per cent of the population suffer from muscular pain, often through sitting down."
Staff will give advice on how back pain can be avoided through exercise, including taking part in organised walks.
Anyone interested in joining the back pain session should attend Ormesby Club and Institute, High Street, Ormesby, on Monday, from 1pm to 4pm.
