A TOWN centre police station was closed yesterday after specialist cleaners were called in to clear away blood following a stabbing.
Police were called to Church Street, Hartlepool, on Tuesday afternoon, where a 23-year-old man had been knifed in the chest and leg.
The victim was given emergency first aid, then moved to the Church Street police station until an ambulance arrived.
He was rushed to Hartlepool General Hospital, where his condition was yesterday described as stable.
A 24-year-old man, from Hartlepool, was last night expected to be charged with attempted murder.
Detective Sergeant Tony Green said: "Church Street police office had to be closed so cleaning specialists could remove blood from the inside, where first aid was administered."
Detectives appealed for witnesses - or anyone with any information about the incident - to contact them on (01642) 302129
