FUNDRAISERS are celebrating following an abseil down the Tyne Bridge on Sunday.
The event was organised by the Katie Trust, a Redcar-based charity that is raising money to fund a new research post at the regional cancer research unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
It was launched in memory of six-year-old Katie Neal, a Redcar schoolgirl who died following a courageous battle against a brain tumour.
About 80 people turned up to make the jump, including Katie's mum Debbie.
Between them they raised £6,000, to the delight of Katie's dad Martin, who said: "It was one of those days when everything went according to plan - even down to the weather."
