Last seasons runners-up Kelloe WMC were very unlucky as they went out of the competition 2-1 to visitors Chilton WMC in a very hard fought game, Paul Harnett and Lee Thistlewiatte scoring for Chilton.
Highest score of the day saw Newton Aycliffe WMC win 10-1 at Sacriston WMC.
There were two goals from John Smith as Kirk Merrington were beaten by Premier side Brancepeth Castle 7-2.
Biggest shock of the day saw Premier side Pelton Roab crash to a 2-1 defeat at Washington Sports. Scott Mounsey and substitute Dave Kean scoring for the Sports.
Goals from Peter Cummings, Martin Bowes and two from Gary Smith earned Fishburn WMC a place in the next round as they beat visitors Sunderland Lakeside 4-2. Current leaders of the first division Burnmoor Cricket Club travelled to Premier League side Lambton Worm, in a very entertaining game returned home 5-3 winners thanks to goals from Dave Wood, Daren Robson and a hat-trick from Dan Jowett.
Two goals from Steve Foster plus one from Graeme Dixon put Belmont WMC into the next round at the expense of visitors Gilesgate Moor Hotel.
In the all-Premiership derby, visitors Framwellgate Moor WMC were the victors over Newton Hall. Two from Dave Oliver plus one from Scott Oliver gave them a 3-1 win.
Houghton Glendale dumped Premiership side Philadelphia out of the cup with an 8-1 win.
Murton Village Inn were 4-1 winners over Spennymoor Weardale, Hetton New Inn beat visitors Washington Honest Boy 2-1, and in the big Witton Gilbert derby the home side progressed into the next round beating the White Tunn 6-1.
The big game in the first division saw North Biddick and Admiral Heating share the points in a 1-1 draw, Sherburn Lambton Arms were 7-1 winners at Ferryhill WMC.
In the Second Division sub Dave Reay was the scorer for Seaham Kestrel as they lost 2-1 at Framwellgate Moor Utd while Fatfield Biddick were 8-5 winners over visitors Bowburn Cooperage.
In the Third Division Ouston Red Lion were back on winning ways, travelling to Brandon Sports, returning 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Mike Shields and two from Dave Hewitson.
Goals from Christian Kerr, Andy Gates, Chris Taylor and Mark Mitchell earned the Jovial Monk a 4-3 win at Brandon Ridge.
The big game in this division saw New Herrington Flighters entertain New Brancepeth WMC. Five goals from prolific scorer Dave Heron plus one from Andy Ridley saw the home side win 6-3.
In the fourth division leaders Houghton New Social crashed to a 4-1 home defeat by visitors Washington Lambton Highwayman, Langley Park Rams Head were 8-3 winners at Houghton Chilton Lodge. A goal from Lee Ingram was not enough for the Britannia Inn as they lost 2-1 at Washington Dunlop Tyres while Hamsteels CW were 3-0 winners over the Glendenning Arms.
In the fifth division goals from James Cutter, Andrew Nagy and Norman Peacock were not enough to prevent Langley Park Social from losing to visitors Langley Moor Hotel 6-3 and Littlefuse were 3-2 winners at the Black Horse. There were two consolation goals for Craig Fish as Langley Moor Lord Boyne crashed to a 7-2 defeat at Lumley Snooker Club while the Duke of Wellington were 10-1 home winners over the Robbie Burns
