Crook Town Horizon Glass
The visiting Hetton Juniors went ahead after only ten minutes of the Russell Foster League match when Joey Donkin worked his way down the left and crossed for Alan Thompson to score from just inside the penalty area. Three minutes later Horizon Glass were two down when Adam Malekpour robbed the home midfielder, Chris Lowes and went on to slot the ball past Stuart Walker.
Hetton added two more goals in the half through Gareth Stubbs and Matthew Hooper to go into the interval with a 4-0 lead.
Crook started the second half more positively and reduced the arrears when Andrew Rooney converted a good ball from Craig Lowes.
Two minutes from the end Gareth Stubbs ran on to a good through ball from Kris Young and chipped the advancing Stuart Walker to complete a 5-1 victory.
The man of the match award for Hetton went to Adam Malekpour, while Robbie Clarey took the award for the Crook team.
On Sunday, Crook Town Horizon Glass are away to Byers Green with a 12.30pm kick-off.
Byers Green
The Under-9s Haze won one and lost one at the weekend, losing 1-0 to league-leaders Boldon Colts in the first game having defended well and created a couple of chances of their own. In The second game Byers ran out 2-0 winners against Seaham Red Star with goals from Louis Dunn and Joseph Bell, in a game where good passing football created plenty of chances for the Byers Green team.
The U-9s Bees lost both games at the weekend, losing 4-1 to Belford House after a goal from Stevie Gavin and in the second game the Bees lost 5-0 to top of the league side Riverside RAR, a result which flattered the winners a little in a game where Byers had their share of possession.
The U-8s only picked up one point at the weekend, losing out 3-0 to City of Durham in the first game and drawing 0-0 with Easington Eagles.
Another away fixture for Byers Green U-15s saw a great game at South Shields who took the lead midway through the first half from a free-kick 20 yards from goal but minutes later Byers grabbed a well-deserved equiliser through Sheldon Metcalfe.
In the second half Byers were the much stronger side but luck just wasn't with them and South Shields scored two more to make the final score 3-1 to the home side.
Darlington 21st All Stars
TWO teams retained their unbeaten league records. The Under-12 Colts travelled to Tennis World and came away with a marvellous and unexpected 2-1 victory, all the more meritorious because of the quality of the opposition.
Allstars deserved their win with goals from and man of the match Matthew MeNaughton and an own goal.
The U-11s were in action at home to Hartlepool Crest and led 1-0 after a tight first half Three further goals arrived in the second half with the away side getting a consolation goal, the final victory being 4-1. The goals came through Jack Henderson, Mark Buckley, Freddie Huscroft and Tom Watson who was also named man of the match.
The Under-15 Colts were at home to Billingham Synthonia and continued their unbeaten league run with a 9-0 victory, but the scoreline could have been into double figures. Steve McCready took his tally to 10 for the season with four goals, Tommy Wright made it 15 for the season with yet another hat-trick and Adam Moses and Andy Edgeworth got the others. Gary Buckley's probing and passing game brought him the man of the match award.
The U-16s made it 14 points out of 18 with a comprehensive 6-1 home victory over Norton Grange. In a game where Allstars rarely needed to get out of second gear, Steven Colbeck grabbed a welcome brace of goals and Stuart Ford, Paul Strickland, Andrew Shaw and Lee McDade got the others. Man of the match was Paul Tills.
The U-12s made it nine points out of 15 with a 2-0 home win against Marton in a good team performance, Jonathan Vinton and Dale Sheridan the scorers and Matthew Sutton the man of the match award.
The U-15s contested a 10-goal thriller at Guisborough ESCO Juniors, coming away with a 5-5 draw, despite an inconsistent performance and overall disappointment, having been in the lead four times. Tariq Inayatullah added four goals to his season's total and the other came via Lee Harding. Man of the match was Nick Lyons.
The U-14s were at unbeaten Marton and, despite a battling performance which showed how much they have progressed this season, lost 3-2. Darren Thompson and Steven Howden got the goals and Ben CharIton was man of the match.
The U-11 Colts suffered their first league defeat of the season in the
Richmondshire Youth League at local rivals Darlington Albion, the final scoreline 2- 1. Leading 1 -0 at half-time, the Allstars' defence was solid throughout most of the second half but sadly conceded two very late goals. Jack Ridley got the Colts' goal and David Kelly was man of the match.
After last week's fine cup Performance, the U-13s disappointed with a below-par performance at home to Leven, Allstars losing 5-0 and making the away side look better. David McDade was man of the match.
The U-17s were in action at home to Ingleby Barwick and lost 3-2. Not one of Allstars' luckiest games, another contributory factor was the overall lack of determination needed to produce a win. The goals came from man of the match Ben Jolly and Dean Lowson.
At seven-a-side level in the Teesside Junior Alliance, the U-10s travelled to Stockton West End and won 2-0, their fifth league win of the season. An own goalstarted proceedings and Liam Clarke also got on the scoresheet. Daniel Groves was man of the match. In a subsequent friendly, the U-10s won 8-2 with two goals each from Clarke and Ross Kelly and the others from Groves, Liam Coates, Jack Johns
and man of the match Michael Pattison.
At the same level in the Richmondshire League, the Under-10 Colts A team travelled to Bedale, losing 4-0 and winning 4-2 Richard Moorhouse and Scott Colling got two goals each and the men of the matches were Colling and Jimmy Stokell. The B team were also at Bedale and lost 3-1 and 5-2. Mark Ellerion got two goals and Sean Howart the third goal. men of the matches were Ben Murphy and Oliver Webster.
Willington
The Under-8s had a double victory on Sunday, beating Dawdon Pennywell 3-0 and East Durham Community College 1-0. Jordan Roberts (2) and Matthew Proud scored in the first game, Roberts getting the winner in the second.
Darlington Albion
The Under-10 team turned on the style away to Catterick AWS, scoring four times before the interval and emerge 4-0 winners. Against tough opposition, Albion got quickly down to work, creating all of the chances and were rewarded with a 4-0 advantage at half time. Scorers Tarren, Haymer, Wason, and Moohan. In the second-half the home side stepped up the pace and held Albion with some excellent defending.
Man of the match: Jack Suttie (for some timely challenges in defence).
The second game between the two sides resulted in a goalless draw. The first half started with some excellent passing and movement from both sides, Albion creating more chances with debut player Joe Watson close to scoring. The second half was similar, producing good entertainment but no goals.
Man of the match: Martyn Wilson (for a faultless and hardworking display in midfield).
By the time the third game was played the two sides knew their strengths and weaknesses and a draw seemed the most likely result, but after a final push forward, Albion were rewarded with a superb finish into the roof of the net by Laura Gowling. For a 1-0 win.
Man of the match: Joe Lucas.
Albion entertained 21st Allstars in the Richmond and District Junior League at Under-11 level. In an outstanding performance Albion gained a 2-1 victory with both goals from Elvin Webley.
Man of the match: Luke Stone.
Coxhoe Boys
The U-12 team in the Russell Foster Tyne and Wear Youth League gained a 5-0 win with an impressive performance against Stadium Spartans. Man of the match was Tom Orton who laid on two of the goals and was unlucky not to score and the scorers were Jamie Lawson (2), Ben Raine, Carl Sanderson and George Hesler
