A ROOKIE police officer suspended following claims she knocked a fellow officer's teeth out while on duty in Sunderland will not be prosecuted.
Northumbria Police has also decided not to take further disciplinary action against the WPC. The probationer has returned to work following an investigation into the alleged incident with a male colleague in March.
She has taken a job at another command area within Northumbria Police.
Crown Prosecution Service lawyers have studied the case and decided there was not enough evidence to prosecute.
Both officers were based at Sunderland city centre's Gill Bridge Avenue police station when the allegation was made.
The pair had been on duty in the High Street West and St Mary's area of the city.
It was claimed that following an incident the policewoman smashed her colleague in the mouth with a police radio.
She was arrested and questioned by CID officers as part of a criminal inquiry and a police appeal was made for witnesses.
Last night a Northumbria Police spokeswoman confirmed that there was insufficient evidence for a criminal prosecution
