NORTHUMBRIA Police has welcomed another car park into its secured car parking scheme.
Costco Wholesale, next to the MetroCentre, in Gateshead, Tyneside, becomes the seventh local car park to join the crime-reducing initiative.
There are six other secured car parks in the Northumbria force area, offering tight security to 3,188 vehicles.
The scheme is spearheaded by the Association of Chief Police Officers.
Operators are advised on design and standards following an inspection, and given an award in recognition of their membership.
Crime Prevention Officer John Marsden said: "The secured car park will provide another safe environment for people going about their business, shopping or leisure activities.
