GEORDIE actor Jimmy Nail is said to be working on early drafts of storylines for a new series of Auf Wiedersehen Pet.
The hit comedy-drama of the 1980s followed a gang of British builders on the sites of Germany and Spain.
The show made stars of Nail, who played layabout Oz, along with Timothy Spall, Kevin Whately and Tim Healy.
Originally the programme was on ITV, but the BBC is looking to resurrect the idea.
Reports at the weekend said that Nail, who has since appeared in Spender, Crocodile Shoes and Evita, was working on the drafts.
Meanwhile, writers Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais have produced a script tracing the characters' lives up to the modern day.
It is believed that the eight episodes will be ready by autumn next year.
