PEOPLE have given their seal of approval to changes in disabled transport services in Tyne and Wear.
Three quarters of Care Services members said they approved of changes introduced in July, according to a survey.
Care Services is a non-profit making service, catering for people unable to use conventional public transport due to disability.
Journeys are tailor-made to individual requirements, using a fleet of mini-buses run by The Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Authority, Nexus.
Changes included two separate booking systems introduced for shorter and longer journeys, greater flexibility in route planning and extra buses.
Some fixed routes were offered for the most popular destinations, and concessionary fares introduced for members and an escort on buses and the Metro.
The changes, carried out after talks with members, and the Disability Users Liaison Group, have allowed an extra 400 journeys to be made each week.
