A MOTORING shop was attacked in what police believe was a doomed ram-raiding attempt by thieves who also failed to get into a fish and chip shop two doors away.

Damage and tyre marks outside Darlington Motor Factors suggested the thieves used a vehicle in their attempt to break into the shop.

And at Rodolfo's Fish Bar, an attempt to break through the door was unsuccessful because of steel shutters inside.

The attacks on the premises on North Road took place between 6.15pm on Saturday and the early hours of Sunday.
