PARENTS and other local residents have been invited to inspect a new school building.
St Michael's RC Primary School recently opened its doors to pupils after completing the move into the new premises from its ageing former site, across Old Durham Road in Houghton-le-Spring.
The 199 pupils and 30 full and part-time staff became used to making the most of their 130-year-old former building.
But they have been spoiled in recent weeks, enjoying their comfortable new surroundings and state-of-the art equipment.
Headteacher Jo Ritchie said that now the pupils have completed the move to their new surroundings, she would like parents and any other locals to have a look round the school.
Mrs Ritchie said they are all welcome to view the classrooms and take a tour of the premises, on Saturday, from 10am to 4pm
