DOORS to a covered market reopened yesterday as scaffolding on a clock tower continues to come down following months of renovations.
Darlington's town clock, which towers above the market, on Low Row, has a clean new look following the facelift.
While the Low Row entrance in the corner of the market has been closed because of the scaffolding, special give-aways have been held and competitions to keep visitors coming.
And markets officer Albert Nowicki joined Darlington Borough Council cabinet member Stephen Harker to continue giving away prizes and tickets for the Winning Tree, which has a host of prizes on offer.
Darlington Markets has also teamed up with The Northern Echo to give people a chance to win the ingredients for a Christmas dinner for six. Customers were asked to answer a simple question and return the form to The Northern Echo, PO Box 14, Priestgate, Darlington, DL1 1NF.
The question is: What is the name of the reindeer who leads Santa's sleigh team?
Answers must be returned by Thursday.
