A NETBALL battle of the sexes has been held in Darlington to raise money for the NSPCC.
The match, at the Dolphin Leisure Centre, saw a team of firefighters take on a team of women to raise £1,000 for the charity's Full Stop campaign.
The contest was the idea of husband and wife Michael and Louise Dale, from Leyburn, North Yorkshire.
Mr Dale is a firefighter with Blue Watch in Keighley, West Yorkshire. His wife plays for the Van Gough netball team in the Darlington and District League.
The team's sponsor, a car and van rental business in Stockton, arranged transport to ferry the firefighters from Keighley to Darlington.
Anyone wishing to contribute to the campaign, which aims to stop child abuse, can make donations at post offices or Co-operative Bank branches
