PROBLEMS caused by the number of rent arrears in a North-East town are to be the subject of a workshop for councillors.
The workshop, in Stockton on December 14, will consider why people get into debt and its impact on their rent payments.
There will be a debate on how policy and procedures can be improved to reflect a firm, but sympathetic approach to debt recovery and consider options for change.
A follow-up report will be presented to the borough council's housing and community safety select committee, with an action plan for improvements.
