TONY the Tiger went back to school yesterday to get singing lessons from youngsters who will be entertaining the crowds at a college fair.
The Framwellgate Singers, from Framwellgate Moor Primary School, Durham, will be performing at the Christmas event being held by the city's Finchale Training College, on Saturday.
The singers have sung at previous fairs, held by the college to raise money for its work helping disabled people train for work.
Tony will be at the fair along with such characters as Dino the Dinosaur and, of course, Santa Claus.
College spokeswoman Rachel Chetwyn said: "The fair promises to be loads of fun for all the family, including the chance to win a mountain bike, magic shows, and singing from Stevie Jay and the Chester-le-Street Methodist Choir.
"There will be dancing from the Sunderland City Dance Troupe, and story-telling from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang friend Caractacus Potts. There will be a Wheel of Fortune, tombola, play area, plant and cake stalls, and lots of festive gift stalls.
"You can even e-mail Santa in advance, via the college's website at finchalecollege.co.uk" She said proceeds would go to improve facilities at the college, which offered NVQ programmes and services to disabled people wanting re-training for work.
The fair, in the college grounds, near the Arnison Centre, at Pity Me, runs from 10am to 4pm.
