Winter League
Cockton Hill moved up to share second place with Wheatley Hill A after they only dropped one point to the visiting Fishburn A. Old Shildon still lead the table by four points. Fishburn A went one ahead in the first frame when Brian Quest won but then Kevin Mordica, Harold Lomax, George Chapman and Paul Weighill, with a 60 break, took the home side to victory.
Wheatley Hill B made their first win of the season but it was against their strong hosts at Shotton Palms. All of the points were decided on the black with Tony Hall putting the home side ahead. Ken Johnson and Steve cave moved the visitors ahead but Jimmy Evans squared the match. In the decider the Hill's Tony Ellison beat John Armstrong.
Old Shildon maintained their four point lead at the top with an odd point victory at Brandon. John Hall put the home side ahead but then Billy Goggins, Jossie Aldworth and Steven Bennett scored three in a row for the visitors. Brian Graham took the final point for Brandon.
Wheatley Hill A share second place after beating the visiting Newton Aycliffe by the odd point. Jack Wright and Dave Walker put the Hill ahead but Michael Hewitt pulled one back. Ronnie Peacock made certain of a home win before Stuart Neil took the final point for the visitors.
Spennymoor A were taken to the decider in their home game with Witton Gilbert but Paul Biddle took them to victory by beating John Rooney senior. Willis Joynes and Ian Renwick, with a 38 break, had taken points for Witton with Eddie Rhodes and Ronnie Bateman setting up the decider.
In the Second Division Willington moved nine points clear after they only dropped one point to the visiting Belmont, who had Steven Armstrong as their only winner. The Willington point scorers were Arthur Goldsborough, Jeremy Martin, Colin Lomax and Paul Atkinson.
Newhouse A managed to hang on to second place after they were taken to a decider by the visiting Ferryhill. Kevin Allison put Newhouse ahead but then Ian Roddam and Dale Hebdon won for Ferryhill. Steve Mountain managed to square the match and then Newhouse's Ian Dinsdale beat Mark Wilson in the decider.
Meadowfield moved up to share third place after taking the game at Hunwick A by the odd point. Tom Ward and Trevor Cook won for Hunwick with Craig Hughes with a 35 break and Norman Smith levelling. In the decider, Stephen Hughes beat the home side's Trevor Lomax.
Geoff Howe gave Wingate the lead at Durham City but the home side then took three in a row through Eric Wright, Gary Ward and Barry Stoddart. Wingate took the closing point through Dean Jones, who made a welcome return to the league after an enforced absence through injury.
Sherburn Village looked to be coasting through their home game with Crowtrees when Adrian Twist and Alan Greener put them two up. However Sonny Hann and Keith McLauchlan won to set up the decider. Scott Mallaburn guided Sherburn to victory by beating Phil Whitfield.
In the Third Division Spennymoor B stretched their lead at the top to four points after they only dropped one point at Leeholme A, who had Barry Shaw as their only winner. Alan Shaw, Karl McCormack, Wayne Parry and Micky Anderson won for the Moors.
The two teams sharing second place were both beaten. Fishburn B went down in the decider at home to Leeholme B, where Mark Brown beat George Whitelock. The visitors took the first two points through Ray Gill and Keith Thompson but Barry Underwood and Wayne Oliver levelled.
Newhouse B, who share the second spot, went down in the decider at West Auckland. Glen Morton put the visitors ahead but wins from David Geraty and Andrew Sugden moved West ahead. Alan McCluskey put in breaks of 34 and 30 to level the match.
The steadily improving Sacriston only dropped one point at home to Hunwick B, who had Steve Bennett as their only winner. Keith Laing, Dale Evans, Willy Nixon and Ronnie Bradley took the points for the home side.
Billy Row moved up to share the fourth spot with Sacriston after the visiting Tow Law B only took one point when Alex Ogilvie won. The home winners were Ronnie Ayre, Alan Smith, Gordon Sample and Ken Rider.

Crook League
Crook Royal Sun lost their share of second place in the First Division after they lost in the decider at the Spitfire Club. The singles were shared with Ronnie Rinaldi, David Sneath and Ken Johnson scoring for the Spitfire and Darren Tinkler, Gary Butterfield and Nigel Watson replying. In the deciding doubles the Spitfire's pair, Eddie Phillipson and Ken Johnson beat Simon Bowey and Wayne Smith.
The Travellers Rest B lead the table by one point from the Olde Horse Shoe A, who are five points ahead of Crook Belle Vue. In the Second Division, the Olde Horse Shoe B are four points ahead of Crook Mill House, who are eight ahead of the Surtees.

Cleveland League
Division One
Carlin How had to rearrange their league match, sponsored by Bass Brewers against New Marske due to their club being flooded but the setback did not deter them from chalking up yet another convincing win.
Carlin's Andrew Shelley started off the match by compiling a 70 break which was the highest recorded in the division this season. Shelley then went on to compile a 46 break in the same frame.
Unfortunately for Gary Forrest, Shelley then went on to win the second frame, the scores ended 124-13 and 69-32. Mark Earl then continued the good work for the home team winning both of his frames against Ron Greenwood with scores of 78-31 and 63-32.
Gary Moon won the next frame against Richard Sivills by 68-34, but Sivills of New Marske had the last say when winning the final frame on a black ball fight. The final frame score ended 5-1 in Carlin How's favour.

Division Two
Guisborough Cons. beat the Unionist's B team 4-2. Stewart, playing for Guisborough, got the home team off to a good start beating Chatterton with frame scores of 45-14 and 47-28. The home team then lost their first frame of the evening when Watson was beaten by Grey but only just, on a black ball fight. Watson got his revenge when beating Grey in the second frame, this game was also decided on the final black. The frame scores finished up 36-42 and 45-33 respectively. Allan of Guisborough and McGee of the Unionist's went on to share the spoils in the final match. The scores were 64-48 and 32-49.
