Hetton Youth League

Bottom team Springboard made their exit from the North East Durham Youth Cup when they were swamped 12-2 at Jarrow St Bedes. Gavin Cogden and Stuart Duncan scored consolation goals for Springboard.

Ryhope played well, defeating Hebburn A 4-1, Brian Smiles bagging a brace. Dominic Maddison and Paul Watson also struck while goalkeeper Chris Trotter saved a penalty at a crucial stage of the tie. Washington Dunlop also reached the next round with a 7-3 victory at home to Wardley, Garry McCartney netting a hat-trick.

In the league, Lumley gave their best performance of the season to defeat Springwell 4-3 after trailing 2-1 at the half-way stage.

Darren Henderson was on target in the opening period and after the break he went on to complete his hat trick while Richard Kay also scored a vital goal.

Fairs Software Tyneside Junior league

Walker Central put nine goals past Tow Law who scored once through Stephen Boughey. The goals flowed at the other end where Andy Wilkinson scored a hat-trick while Danny Dixon twice netted.

Other goals came from Clark, Kelty, Dean Gates, Ben Young and Rob Berlinson.

Dunston Federation and New Hartley fought a goalless draw while Redheugh saw off Percy Main's challenge, winning 5-0. Michael Huggin (2), Michael Hay, Chris Douglas and Dean Conway all found the net.

In the League Cup, Consett and Newcastle East End both reached the next round.

Consett finished 5-2 in front of Swalwell with strikes by Paul Sawyer (3), Chris McGinn and Shaun McGarry. Anthony Baker and Barry Gill responded for Swalwell.

Newcastle East End hit eight goals when they hosted Cleveland Hall who managed two, courtesy of Graham Smith and Graham Shannon. Paul Blake took the man of the match honours with five goals and other scorers were Colin McKenzie(2) and Gavin Wood.

New County North Durham Youth League

Chester-le-Street Waldridge Park enjoyed a 4-1 victory when they visited Felling Magpies in the Under-17 Division. Darren Henderson scored twice and Dean Grayson and Mark Harrison also found the net. Andrew Fatkin hit a consolation goal for the Magpies.

Goals by Mark Turner (2), Chris Cowley, Kevin Reay, Aaron Robinson and Richard Stafford earned Consett the points at Lanchester, who managed one goal from Richard Hodge.

Blackfyne lost 5-1 at South Shields. whose goal came from Gary Stephenson while for Shields, Peter Brown and David Lowery scored two goals each.

Stanley Sandhole drew 4-4 with South Tyneside. Craig Stacey, Andrew McDonald, Shaun Pearson and Craig Morgan all struck for Stanley with David Tait hitting a hat-trick for the visitors.

A number of sides were involved in the Edward Wanless Cup and there were wins for Sheriff Hill and Haydon Bridge. The latter saw of Prudhoe's challenge by a 4-0 margin when Carl Phillips scored three goals and John Murray one.

Philip Appleton (2) and Peter Fairless ensured Sheriff Hill their passage into the next round at the expense of Chopwell but Redheugh and Hebburn Clegwell will have to replay after a 1-1 result. Adam Tindale scored for the Reds and Glen McQueeney replied for Hebburn.

One game was played in the Under-16 Division A, Cleveland Hall edging Stocksfield 3-2, their scorers being Lee Rankin (2) and Daniel Armoury.

In the U-17 section Chester-le-Street won 4-1 at Felling Magpies whose consolation goal came from Andrew Fatkin. Consett put six past Lanchester with Mark Taylor (2), Chris Cowley, Kevin Reay, Aaron Robinson and Richard Stafford all on the mark. Richard Hodge replied for Lanchester.

Peter Brown (2), David Lowery (2) and Gary Stephenson ensured a 5-1 victory for South Shields at home to Blackfyne while Stanley Sandhole and South Tyneside shared eight goals. Craig Stacey, Andrew McDonald, Shaun Parson and Craig Mrgan netted for Sandhole while David Tait recorded a hat-trick for South Tyneside whose other goal came from an own goal.

A and C Kelly Gateshed Youth League

Stanley Sandhole suffered an 8-1 defeat against Leam Rangers A in the Under-11 Division. Scott Fenwick scored five goals and Carl Richardson a hat-trick.

In the Under-13 Section, Sandhole didn't enjoy any better fortune, losing 5-3 at Stocksfield. James Prince hit three goals while Lee Atkins bagged a brace for Sandhole.

And to complete a miserable day Sandhole, at Under-14 level, lost 3-0 to Blaydon, Owen Fox scoring a couple of the goals.

Leam Rangers saw off Felling Magpies 5-3 when Chris Wilson hit three goals and Liam Cook two while for the losers David Ikin was twice on the mark. Best individual performances of the day were by Cleveland Hall's Liam Docherty and John Storey who both scored five goals in their team's runaway 10-0 win at Wardley.

Chris Laws (4) and Peter Fairless (3) led Cleveland Hall to a 7-2 victory

against Prudhoe in the Under-15 Division and a hat-trick by Andrew Curry featured in Redheugh's 4-0 victory over Blaydon.

David Field was another player to scored three times in Swalwell's easy 5-0 success on their visit to Spen Rovers.

Chester-le-Street Town

The Under-16s continued their excellent start to the season with a resounding 10-1 home victory over Roker Wanderers in the second round of the league cup.

The Sunderland team could not match the current Premiership champions and league pacesetters and it was no surprise when Chester hit double figures yet again.

The Cestrians were only two up at half-time, but in the second period they ran riot scoring eight. Mark Adamson (3), Craig Ellison (2), Jimmy Kerr (2), Rob Bulch, Andy Dawson and Ben Gritton got the goals.

The U-17s made it five consecutive league wins when they won away at Felling Magpies. The two sides have shared close cup matches in recent weeks, but today Felling were no match for the Cestrians who were in a points grabbing mood. Captain Dean Grayson put Chester ahead with a 25-yard free kick before Darren Henderson followed in for the second after Craig Thorn's clever chip came back off the crossbar. Chester keeper Danny Watson then pulled off a penalty save before Andrew Fatkin brought the scores close at the interval.

Soon after the restart Mark Harrison arrived at the back post to put Chester 3-1 up before Henderson completed the victory with his second to make it 4-1.

On Sunday the U-15s play a home derby against Waldridge Park (Riverside, 11am), the U-16s travel to South Tyneside Athletic (10.30am), and the U-17s are at Lanchester in the second round of the Durham County FA Youth Cup (1.30pm).

Bishop Auckland St Mary's

The Under-12 team paid the price for missed chances, losing 5-2 at Sunderland St Joseph's in the Durham County Minor Cup. Laurence Oliver and Martin Lamb were St.Mary's scorers.

The Under-11 team had a 5-1 victory at Newton Aycliffe Sports in the Teesside Junior Alliance. Karl Wilson, Danny Bell, Michael Gibson (2) and Kyle Etherington got on the scoresheet. The Under-10s lost 1-0 at Billingham Town. Stuart Mouncey had an excellent game in goal for St. Mary's whose man of the match was Liam Whitworth.

Coxhoe Boys

the Under-15s moved off the bottom of Division One in the Russell Foster League after a 4-2 win at Redby. Goals from Liam Mawson, Neil Charlton (2) and Jonathan Haggart capped a good team performance in difficult conditions.

Romanby

the annual presentation evening was attended by over 100 members and friends with the captains, Franco Tolu and Sandra Pearson.

The top player in the junior section was Ben Renfrew.

The outstanding player in the ladies section was Sue Almond and Sara Horsfield received the prize for special achievements. The ladies club champion was Ruth Umpleby.

The men's prizes were awarded to: Chris Gorman (singles knockout), Colin Brown and Peter Riley (pairs knockout), Steve Gaythorpe (masters champion), David Watson (outstanding Bainbridge Shield player), Chris Kirby (order of merit champion), Tony Oram (most improved player) and the outstanding club contribution trophy was given to Gerry Kemp. The club champions were Martin Horsfield and Colum Lagan
