VILLAGES are about to take on a greener hue following cash handouts to a number of landscaping schemes.
Members of Hambleton's planning committee have approved grants totalling almost £2,000 from their tree-planting fund.
Two new woodlands are to be created and a small copse extended in a partnership scheme at Brompton Banks, near Northallerton. The project will see the planting of 590 trees and will cost a total of £2,120, towards which Hambleton is giving £742.
In Bedale an £800 scheme to plant 12 deciduous native broad-leaved trees along the roadside boundary of the Mowbray School's playing field will get a £400 grant.
