BILLINGHAM Wolves suffered their second loss at the hands of Kingston Predators in the English Under-19 A league. The teams met at the Forum Ice Arena on Sunday and Wolves went a goal up through Dale Taylor on the powerplay at 5.36.

Predators stung Wolves with two goals in a minute before the first period ended. It was another powerplay that levelled the scores with a Tom Griffiths strike in the 30th minute. Kingston were short-handed when they regained the lead at 34.07 and then went two ahead.

Wolves' Shaun Buckley received a five plus game for boarding at 50.15 and with only seven seconds left Kingston struck a short-handed goal to win 5-2.

Wolves remain top and Kingston moved into second spot, ahead of Sunderland Tomahawks.

The two clubs met at Junior (Under-16) North A League level the previous day. Kingston won that too. They went ahead after 23 seconds. Bears levelled at 10.45 only for Kingston to go 2-1 ahead in under a minute.

Crunch's Rob Chamberlain completed a straight hat-trick for a 4-1 advantage. James Udell reduced the deficit but Lowe scored Kingston's fifth. Despite being under much pressure during the middle period, Bears captain Harland tucked away another goal at 28.40.

The scoring was wrapped up by Kingston when short-handed with three minutes remaining.

Sunderland Scorpions remain with a 100 per cent record in the Women's Premier League after defeating leaders Guildford Lightning. Teresa Lewis gave Scorpions a second-minute lead and Jane Price scored a second at 15.51. After Guildford had equalised in the second period goals from Lunsey Emmerson (2) and Nicola Pattinson eased Scorpions into a 5-1 lead.

It was stretched to 7-1 by Price and Rachel Stockdale before Guildford hit a second. Price recorded her hat-trick marker at 48.50. Guildford scored their third after 52 minutes.

Whitley Bay Squaws won their first Division One North match of the season with an 8-2 victory over Blackburn Thunder at Hillheads. Kerry Dunn with the only goal of the first period at 10.08 gave Squaws the lead. Dunn and Claire Oldfield were on target in the second for 3+0. Squaws went 7-0 ahead with four goals in six minutes with strikes from Oldfield (2), Dunn and Sophie Beal. Blackburn pulled two goals back before Dunn's fourth goal completed the scoring.

Sunderland Commanches won for the first time this season, defeating Whitley Mohawks 3-1 at Hillheads. Commanches were ahead in the 14th minute through Richard Westgarth before Scott Glover equalised.

A powerplay goal from James Moutrey and a Liam Telfer strike in less than a minute gave Commanches a win.

Mohawks: Scott Glover 1+0, Philip Atherton 0+1, Shaun Kippin 0+1.

The previous day, Commanches were defeated 5-0 at unbeaten leaders Sheffield Stormers. Both Kippin and John Wilson received five plus game misconduct penalties for roughing.

Sunderland Cherokees suffered an 8-1 defeat at Telford Terrahawks in the English Bantam (Under-12) North A league. Three goals either side of the interval gave Telford a 3-0 lead. Mark Robson cut the deficit with the visitors only goal at 25.55. Telford scored another five in the final 13 minutes to round off the victory.

Sunderland Apaches were well beaten at Hull by Kingston River Rats in the English Under-10 North league. Leaders Kingston were ahead 2-0 after only 1.47 and it was 5-0 by the interval. Unbeaten Kingston were into double figures at 27.40, leading 10-0 and finished 10-2 winners.

Steve Ashley opened Apaches' account at 29.28 and Grant Sharp hit a second in the final minute.
