CIU Individual League
Ithe final round robin at Hunwick Norman Greener of Thornley made a good start against Peter Laverick of Coxhoe but was steadily overhauled. However he held on to take the first frame by only six points. Laverick then found more of his form and came through to level the match with a thirteen points success. In the final frame again Laverick came back after falling behind and won by eleven point.
Greener never had the rub of the green when he played Charlie Donaghy of Tow Law and lost the first two points by fifteen and twenty-three points. In the third frame he moved well clear but a recovery twenty odd break took Donaghy to victory by nine points.
Laverick never got into the first frame against Donaghy and lost by twenty-seven points. He should have taken the second when only needing five points while his opponent needed 26. However, a missed red allowed Donaghy in to take the frame. The disappointment showed in the third frame when Laverick only scored thirteen points.
On December 7 the games to be played at Tow Law will be between Ken Robinson of Witton Gilbert, Arnold Fleming of Crook and Laverick of Coxhoe.

Ithe final qualifying first round match Arnold Fleming of Hunwick Club met John Armstrong of Shotton Palms at Crowtrees. The recently covered table caused both players early problems and they settled slowly.
However, as they adapted, it was Fleming who edged into a very narrow lead by the halfway stage. Armstrong was always in sight but eventually failed by a mere eleven points.
