PLANS to add a conservatory to a listed cottage, in Boroughbridge Road, Bishop Monkton, near Ripon, are being opposed by the Georgian Society.
The civic watchdog said that introducing a conservatory would spoil the former cornmill's appearance.
A planning application for the addition will be dealt with by Ripon area planning committee of Harrogate Borough Council, on Tuesday.
Planning officers are recommending refusal of the resubmitted application, which has been amended after earlier comments by the conservation officer.
Meanwhile, the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings has reiterated its objection to the earlier plans, saying that it would be a significant quality erosion of a Grade Two listed building.
Planning officer Bill McEwan said the conservatory would be detrimental to the character and appearance of the former mill complex, and against five council policies.
