THE INSTITUTE of Financial Services has accredited a new scheme by Darlington Building Society to monitor the development of its mortgage specialists.
The accreditation allows the society to mentor staff on their continuing professional development. Those involved in the scheme complete 50 hours of study every year to ensure the standards of their professional qualifications are upheld.
During its first year a committee of six mentors will guide the mortgage specialists through the opportunities available to them for their 50 hours of study.
This can include internal and external courses, reading material, distance learning, research projects and private study, all of which are designed to maintain their existing skills.
Sue Hook, Darlington Building Society's human resources manager, said: "The society is proud to have received this recognition from the Institute of Financial Services. The accreditation allows us to monitor the progress of staff through their study and ensure that they are fulfilling the criteria of their professional standards.
