SOMEWHERE deep in the hills of ancient Northumbria, gold, frankincense and myrrh lie hidden.
Dawn of the Firefawn, the title of NTC's Christmas play, is the story of a quest to find the treasure.
The play, described as strange and magical, is by Shaun Prendergast, from Cullercoats, who has written for EastEnders, Soldier, Soldier and Equinox.
He has also appeared as an actor in The Bill, Peak Practice and Soldier, Soldier.
He wrote Dawn of the Firefawn when he was 21 and he is thrilled at its revival for a tour in the northern region. "Reading the script brings memories flooding back of the fantastic time I spent in Alnwick. I can't wait to come back and see the show again," he said.
The tour set off in Alnwick this week and will include rural village halls and community centres in the region until the end of September.
Next week, the company is at Newbiggin village hall on Tuesday (7.30), ring 01833 640807 for tickets; Cockfield community centre on Wednesday (2.30), ring 01388 710808; and at Cotherstone village hall on Saturday, December 9, (7.30), ring 01833 650285.
