A LOCAL authority expanded its accessibility to the public yesterday by launching a new website.
North Yorkshire County Council's new site, designed locally and developed by staff in the authority's IT unit, provides details on everything from committee meetings to weddings.
The council says it sees the site as the first stage in developing a high level of Internet access to information about North Yorkshire.
The deputy leader of the council, Councillor Tim Cole, said: "This is an extremely lively site which will appeal to old and young people alike, and provide them with a vast range of useful information for their everyday lives.
"We already receive 250,000 hits on our Internet site each month, and we expect that to increase considerably with the new site.
