Darlington manager Gary Bennett intends fielding his strongest possible team for the LDV Vans Trophy game at York City tonight.

Bennett wants another win to follow the victory against Mansfield, but he doesn't want to risk some players ahead of the FA Cup tie with Luton.

"I'll be trying to field our strongest team," said Bennett.

"But I must think of Saturday's game against Luton and the league game at Orient after that. I don't want key players to pick up injuries and miss those games.

"On the other hand, this is a competition we are taking seriously, and can progress in. The lads would much rather play than train, so I'll be taking that into consideration also."

Bennett is unwilling to split up the Glenn Naylor and Kevin Kyle striking partnership, with Kyle grabbing his first league goal on Saturday against Mansfield.

"Those two are steadily developing an understanding, and it would be good for them to get another game under their belts.''

One player who looks certain to miss tonight's game is skipper Martin Gray, who has a hernia problem. "He's been carrying it for some time. He's been struggling on with it, and it's a matter of time before he has to have it sorted out.

"If he lasts the season, then it will be a bonus for us it depends on how long he can withstand the pain. Some people have different pain thresholds than others."

Pool entertain Brian Laws' side at Victoria Park in the LDV Vans Trophy on the back of defeats at Glanford Park in both Division Three and FA Cup in recent weeks. Turner is likely to ring the changes. Darren Knowles, Martin Hollund, Tim Sperrevik, James Sharp and Lee Fitzpatrick could all play, while Anth Lormor is likely to be involved. The game must be decided tonight, with golden goal and penalties if necessary.
