THE latest addition to night-life in Stockton is set to expand in the new year.
Springfields, the town's only gay nightclub, opened last weekend in Norton Road and already its owner Peter Cook is thinking about the future.
Chartered accountant Mr Cook opened the club after speaking to some of his clients who complained about the standard of nightlife for the gay community.
He said: "It seems stupid to me that in the 21st Century the gay community has to put up with sub-standard and often dirty places to go out.
"People were having to travel to Newcastle for a night out and all that was needed was a venue here."
Springfields' bar and night-club opened on Friday and Mr Cook is hoping to open cocktail bar in the building in Norton Road in the new year.
He said: "It is predominantly a gay club, but gay-friendly people are more than welcome.
